Bay Area Legal Aid (BayLegal) is the largest
provider of free civil legal services throughout the Bay Area.
BayLegal’s services include:
advice; referrals; limited scope
assistance; extended representation; public policy and impact
advocacy; trainings; outreach; and community education.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Domestic Violence Prevention: Assisting domestic
violence survivors escape the violence and create a safe
and stable environment for themselves and their families
through Family Law, Restraining Order, and Immigration
assistance.

Housing Preservation: Assist clients to access and
preserve safe affordable housing free of discrimination,
with specific focus on Eviction defense and Fair
Housing.

Access to Health Care: Assist
clients to obtain healthcare services
from county and state
programs.

Economic
Security: Assisting clients secure public benefits and
eliminate the barriers to employment and
self-sufficiency. |

Extended Representation –
Represent a client within your specialty or experience
and/or with training and support from BayLegal;

Limited
Representation – Represent or assist a client on a
limited basis with a specific issue, matter, and/or
hearing (for example: domestic violence restraining
order hearing);

Domestic Violence Restraining
Order Clinics – BayLegal staff and volunteers assist pro
per litigants with the paperwork needed to receive a
temporary restraining order and become safe.
BayLegal conducts DV RO Clinics in
Redwood City, throughout
Contra
Costa
County, and is
a partner in
San Francisco’s
Cooperative Restraining Order Clinic (CROC).

Consult with a client – on a
issue within your specialty and/or after you receive
training;

Co-counsel –
with BayLegal staff or a less experienced volunteer;

Mentor
– consult with BayLegal staff attorneys and volunteers
in areas of your specialty;

Research/Investigation –
assist with research and investigation of systemic legal
issues facing the indigent to improve access to justice.
