Orrick is an international law firm with leading lawyers located in the major commercial centers of North America, Europe and Asia. The firm traces its roots to 1863. Our practices are balanced between high-stakes litigation and complex transactions, while emphasizing proactive counseling and risk management. Recognizing that our clients require both quality and value, the firm has led the legal industry by combining market-leading practice capabilities with client-service innovation.

PRO BONO PROGRAM

The firm's pro bono program continued to grow impressively in 2009, and for the fourth consecutive year, the firm landed on the A-List published by the American Lawyer in large part due to the firm's pro bono score which ranked it nineteenth out of the largest two hundred law firms based in the United States.  The firm exceeded the ambitious goals it set early last year to have no less than 85% of all U.S.-based attorneys bill no less than 20 pro bono hours in 2009.  The firm believes broad pro bono participation by partners and associates alike is critical to the long-term viability of a first-rate program.  The firm currently represents more than 800 individual and nonprofit clients on a pro bono basis and partners with more than 200 nonprofit organizations to serve these clients.  Orrick's blue chip legal services are offered in the areas of greatest need, where the firm believes it can make a substantial impact.  A varied and flexible approach encourages attorneys of all levels of experience to get involved in the communities where the firm operates to address a range of issues reflecting the firm's diverse practice areas in transactional work and litigation.  The firm's pro bono program features matters ranging from transactional work for nonprofits, to cases for individuals, to impact litigation, to assisting nonprofit organizations that serve developing countries and the people living there.
