Silicon Valley Campaign for Legal Services
PURPOSE
The Silicon Valley Campaign For Legal Services, founded
in 2001, is an annual campaign program dedicated to raising funds to
augment current contributions to Silicon Valley legal service
agencies, which provide legal services to Silicon Valley's
disadvantages residents. The purpose of these funds is to increase
the effectiveness and ability of these legal agencies to assist our
disadvantaged residents with the most critical of legal issues. The
Silicon Valley Campaign for Legal Services is an historic venture
for our legal community. In the midst of our Valley's abundance we
have a momentous opportunity to offer assistance and hope to those
who have nowhere else to turn. The funds raised by the Campaign are
donated to the legal service agencies that
are participants with the Probonomatch.org.
RELATIONSHIP TO THE SCCBA
The SCCBA is proud to be affiliated with the Campaign
since the founders of the Campaign were past and then-current
leaders of the SCCBA. The SCCBA in 2001 committed the $50,000 in
negative dues funds to the Campaign to fund the start-up of the
organization. The SCCBA continued to provide those funds to the
Campaign yearly until 2006, when the SCCBA with the Campaign well on
its way, directed those funds to the SCCBA Pro Bono Initiative:
Helping Lawyers Help Others, a part of which is this website.
The SCCBA has and continues to enthusiastically support
the Campaign with the SCCBA President serving on its Board and with
the SCCBA Executive Director serving as an Ex Officio Board member.
The SCCBA has and continues to contribute a number of in-kind and
cash donations yearly to the Campaign, which include the following:

Hosting and maintenance for the
Campaign's website at
www.svcls.org;

Administrative services including use of
the SCBBA's mailing address; dedicated phone line with voice
mail; and processing credit card donations made on line at
www.svcls.org;

Email distribution to SCCBA members for
yearly donation campaign; various fundraising events
sponsored by the Campaign throughout the year;

4. |
SCCBA Barristers' Committee cosponsors
and advertises fundraising networking events with the
Campaign's Amicus Committee and gives the Campaign a yearly
cash donation;

5. |
SCCBA Family Law Section donates funds
each year;
|
| |
6. |
Assist the Campaign in securing the
county membership mailing list through the State Bar each
year; and |
| |
7. |
SCCBA's leadership support special fundraising
events sponsored by the Campaign by participating monetarily
and in person, including the golf tournament and the bocce
ball tournament. |

The SCCBA encourages all attorneys to donate yearly to the Campaign
and encourages law firms who did not participate as a firm to begin
doing so today.
